Dear Belgium Bears and sympathizers,
After a very successful visit to the Hotel Tassel, which was specially opened for us, we are looking forward to our next activity. We are going on a cultural tour again and are going to visit the AfricaMuseum in Tervuren.
The museum closed its doors in 2013 for a thorough renovation, and was reopened in 2018. The museum, which is one of the most visited museums in Belgium, houses exceptional collections from former colonies in Central Africa. For example, it has the world’s richest and most famous collection of ethnic objects from Central Africa and the complete archive of Stanley.
The museum is located on the Leuvensesteenweg in Tervuren, near the terminus of tramline 44 from Brussels, but is also easily accessible by car.
Not only the museum is interesting; the surrounding park and the beautiful buildings are worth a visit. In the park are still the foundations of what was once the castle of Tervuren, the country residence of the Dukes of Brabant and Burgundy next to their main residence, the castle of Coudenberg in Brussels.
We will meet on Sunday 9 March at 13:45 at the entrance of the museum, which is located in the park. An adult ticket has a basic rate of 13€. Holders of a MuseumPass have free access and 65+ enjoy a discount and receive a ticket for 10€. In the event that we can obtain a group rate (10€), we must have about 15 participants, not counting the MuseumPass.
After the visit, those who are open to it can have a drink or a bite to eat together in the center of Tervuren, which is within walking distance.
Looking forward to a large turnout again, big bear hugs,
The Belgium Bears team.
